The head of the Policy Links Unit, Dr Carlos Lopez-Gomez, presented ideas for how micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises can harness the benefits of Industry 4.0 at a panel during the Confederation of Indian Industry’s annual Smart Manufacturing Summit in November.
The online panel featured representatives from UNIDO and the Government of India.
He focused on three global best practices that would help governments and firms: ‘demystifying’ Industry 4.0 and leveraging existing technologies; focusing on technology diffusion and democratising access to Industry 4.0 technologies; and using the opportunity of COVID-19 recovery to rethink institutional infrastructures.
