Across national contexts, small island countries face similar challenges in implementing science, technology and innovation policies and harnessing the potential of Industry 4.0 and digital transformation.
At this event, David Leal-Ayala presents findings from recent Policy Links work in the Caribbean and is joined in discussion by Kieron Swift, former project lead of Compete Caribbean. They explore feasible and effective steps smaller states can take to implement innovation policies, including how innovation can help economies rebound from the effects of COVID-19. They also consider how research and innovation can be better connected to business and industry, and how some of the common barriers to effective innovation policy can be overcome.
