Future of Industrial Strategies paper presented at Davos

As industrial policy returns to the top of government agendas, many of the challenges impacting manufacturing remain global in nature.

A new White Paper published by Cambridge Industrial Innovation Policy together with the World Economic Forum and UNIDO will be discussed this week at Davos, the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting. Panellists including the Rt Hon, Grant Shapps, Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy of the UK, will explore the latest approaches and strategies to support the revival of manufacturing.

The White Paper: ‘The Future of Industrial Strategies: Five Grand Challenges for Resilient Manufacturing‘ provides some initial steps for public and private sector collaboration and actions that can be taken in response to these five grand challenges facing themanufacturing ecosystem.

Session panellists include:

• Sara Kehaulani Goo, Editor-in-Chief, Axios
• Lee Young, Minister of SMEs and Start-ups of the Republic of Korea
• Gerd Müller, Director-General, United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Vienna
• Dimitri de Vreeze, Co-Chief Executive Officer and Member of the Managing Board, Royal DSM NV
• Ricardo Hausmann, Founder and Director, Growth Lab, Harvard University

Panellists will give their perspectives on the main challenges affecting manufacturing and supply chains in the new global context and how governments can re-think and update their industrial strategies and policies to best support the transformation of their manufacturing sectors.
