Emerging trends in global advanced manufacturing: challenges, opportunities and policy responses (2017)

A joint report for United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)

Building on an ongoing collaboration between the IfM and the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), this report reviewed the main megatrends and technological developments driving change in global advanced manufacturing, paying particular attention to the increasing digitalisation of manufacturing. Case studies illustrate how advanced manufacturing is being supported by government policy programmes in major manufacturing countries including US, UK, Japan and Germany. Approaches and insights that might support advanced manufacturing policy making are also highlighted. The contributors to the reports are part of the IfM ECS/Policy Links unit.
